A change of scenery
Okay, I’ve decided to change the site that I use for my blog to this one simply because it seems a lot nicer and eaier to use, oh and you can post Youtubes on it as well, which I am going to need to show off some of my new stuff. In time, maybe in a minute, I will put all my old posts on here.

Guns don’t kill people, zombies with assault rifles do
Okay, so I’ve ironed out a few problems with my code. MAinly the code where the player would decide she was going to do a Jesus pose and simply float around the place like an angel on rollerskates. Now there is no skating angel but a zombie, acting as the player till I can get a better model, or make one myself, which would be extra cool. But that will probably never happen. The player lying down issue is still my biggest one, but I’ve posted on a few forums hoping someone can help me out. Anyway, I just need to get these animations finished off then I can go back to making the levels, though this time it might be a lot different, as I’ve never made any levels that were side on action with a 3d background. Oooh should be fun.
Anyway, a pic for your click.

A change of Dimension
Okay, a few days ago I got tired of the mod, I have made it too big and complex, and thought, “Oh well, it’s been a learning experience”, which it has. But then I thought back to a few weeks ago when I stumbled across this mod. If you click on the link you will see for yourself what it’s about. basically it turns HL2 into a fully 3d side scrolling platformer. Now, I’ve managed to get the code working for single player, but there are still a few bugs, mainly where the players don’t aim correctly. Moving thier entire bodies instead of just the gun.
Ok the person the left here is the player. It’s just a test room so don’t complain. I’m still trying to figure out how I can fix a lot of the animations.
Until next time.

Giving it that British feel
Okay, so over the last few days I’ve been working on a few props for the levels in Ana-Kata, also I’ve decided to rename the mod from Anakata to Ana-Kata. Not sure why but meh, anyway to the point I’ve been working on some models that will give the streets and roads of the mod a more Britain-ey look, not Brittany, it aint France. So basically I’ve got myself the font that is used on the roadsigns in the UK, and started to mess around with it. So far I’ve made a bollard, like one of those things you see on the Islands in the middle of the road, with a light up thier ass. My plan is to have them removable with the gravity gun, and then you can see the spotlight shining up from underneath it. Anyways, here is a picture of it.

Over the next week I hope to do a few more models such as this one, including signs for places I’ve yet to name that will feature in the mod, and signs to put on the motorway with a name like the M7 that doesn’t actually exist. Though the M7 would be situated in Scotland If it did exist. Hmmm, or it would need to start there. Ok, I’ve got to finish this quick because lightning is coming up and I can see all of this post going down the drain, just like the rain isn’t. Also some other things to be modeled will be traffic lights and English post boxes and bus stops. More pictures of models soon.

Unfinished Business

Ok, so I went to my mates to teach him the basics of using Max, and while I was there I went and modeled this gun. Well I can’t be bothered to do a skin for it, at least at the moment, I’ve got a lot of other things to be doing right now. But anyway I think I’ll post the unskinned render of the USP anyway. Also I should mention that the model is not actually finished off, it still needs a few bits here and there, like making the shell eject hole, and some other little things. Hope you likes, and would someone please just comment on my blog, it’s depressing,
even a nasty comment would be nice….anything.

New Gun Models Ingame
Ok, so I finally got the gun models in game and all are working now. Took me long enough to figure it all out, and the coding took the most amount of time. So glad I don’t have to do any more coding on the mod.
Me hopes.
As you can see it has a shiny scope, that reflects and stuff.
I think I’ll get started on the mapping now as that is what I am really interested in. Seeing how all my ideas over the last few months are going to come together into the maps for the mod.
Well I think I’ll play through episode one again with the developers coments on….again. Always puts me in a mapping mood.

First look
Right just jumping straight into things, I’m Stewart Parry, 19 years old from Ross-on-Wye, in southern England. I study computer games design at Staffordshire University, and I’ve working on a couple of projects during the Summer. These are two single player Half-Life 2 modifications called HL2:Subvertus, a team created mod, based on the frozen wastelands of Europe, and another single player mod, which I am working on as a solo project dubbed HL2: Anakata.
A link to the website for Subvertus can be found here.
Currently I am concentrating on my solo project while more jobs can be found for me at Subvertus ^_^
Ok, so to explain my mod a bit. HL2 : Anakata
Firstly I will explain the name in due time. The mod is based in the Half-Life 2 universe, but it is set in a city of England, and borrows architecture and scenery from all over the country. Like Half-Life 2 there looms a massive structure overhead, instead of the single tower of the citadel in City 17, there is a double towered massive teleport, that the Combine War effort is using to bring in aircraft, vehicles and troops from the combine homeworld. Joining forces with the British resistance fighters and reinforcements from the liberated city 17, you must destroy this menacing structure to stop the combine from bringing any more reinforcements themselves.
The name
Because of the large amounts of teleport technology in the game, I decided to name it something to do with teleportation and other dimensions. Looking through Wikipedea, I found two words Ana, and Kata, which are essentially like up and down, left and right, or forward and back, but in the fourth dimension.
Ok well that is it for the story and stuff, I will be adding two weapons to the mod, and keeping every weapon apart from the crowbar, as that is only to be used by Gordon Freeman, and no other. So the new meleĆ© weapon will be a large adjustable spanner, and the other weapon to be added will be a Silenced G36C, used by the Brittish army at the moment, or in the near future, which explains it’s presence in Britain.
Well that’s it pretty much for the first post and intro into my silly little existance. Next post will have some pictures, I promise.
